Seattle Back to Business Grants: Up to $10,000 for Storefront Security

The City of Seattle has expanded its Back to Business program to help small businesses recover from storefront damage and prevent future vandalism or property damage. Applications are open through December 2026, or until funds run out.

Two Grant Options

• Storefront Repair Fund: Reimburses up to $5,000 per incident for eligible storefront repair costs. A business can apply for up to three separate incidents in a calendar year.
• Storefront Security Fund: Provides a one-time grant of up to $10,000 to reimburse eligible security improvements made after a CPTED security assessment.

What Costs Can Qualify

The repair fund can help reimburse costs for damage such as broken windows, doors, locks, signs, fences, and gates. The security fund can help reimburse eligible preventive investments, such as doors, locks, security window film, shatterproof glass, and other CPTED-informed improvements.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants generally must operate in Seattle city limits, have an active Seattle business license, be independently owned and non-chain, and serve the public from a physical location or mobile truck. The city lists both for-profit businesses and certain nonprofits as eligible if they meet program rules.

Businesses must generally have no more than 50 full-time equivalent employees and annual net revenue between $1,000 and $7 million as reported to the City of Seattle.

How to Apply

• For repairs, collect paid invoices or receipts and a Seattle Police Department incident number.
• For security, complete a CPTED security assessment before buying eligible improvements.
• Submit the online application through Seattle's Back to Business pages.
